How about, Janice Gaines, Anita Renfroe, and Chris and Stephanie Teague from of Out of the Dust? We’ve been getting to know what our 2018 LLYMI Cruise artists think about love, faith, and travel, and we can’t wait to share this groups’ heartwarming and hilarious answers. Question: If you had your own cruise ship, what would you name it?
Answer: (Chris and Stephanie Teague)"Boaty McBoatface"
Question: We cruise on Valentines’ Day. What’s the best Valentines’ Day you can remember?
Answer: (Anita Renfroe) We always do something fun, but I always think it's weird we celebrate the beheading of a saint with candy and flowers.
Answer: (Janice Gaines) The one where I treated my husband to an awesome holiday. For some reason, most of us women think of this holiday as one where we are to be celebrated, but I wanted the focus to be on my sweet husband for a change.
Question: What’s your favorite way to spend date night?
Answer: (Chris and Stephanie Teague)We equally love a night in the city and a night on the front porch.
Question: What’s your favorite marriage advice?
Answer: (Janice Gaines) Marriage is God's tool of sanctification, so don't be alarmed when you come across friction. It's designed to make you better.
Question: What’s one thing you can’t travel without?
Answer: (Janice Gaines) My slippers! My husband laughs at me, but they help me to really get comfortable in a foreign place.
Answer: (Anita Renfroe) Duct tape
Question: If audiences could take only one message away from you, what would you want it to be?
Answer: (Chris and Stephanie Teague)God wastes nothing in the economy of His kingdom. When we surrender our lives to God's control and perspective, many of the darkest, scariest parts of our story become ways for God to display His glory and goodness.
Answer: (Anita Renfroe) Everyday you have a choice: hilarity or insanity. Always best to go with hilarity.
Question: What’s one of your favorite verses? Why?
Answer: (Janice Gaines) Philippians 2:5. I really love the entire passage around it as well. Paul is describing how we should relate to one another using Jesus' posture and behavior as an example. "He didn't count being God as a thing to be grasped..." so he traded all we seek to earn to be with us. In verse five Paul is saying, "think like Jesus! Approach this life and the people around you like Jesus!" It's a beautiful reminder of what Jesus gave up for us.
Answer: (Chris and Stephanie Teague) This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16. The lesser known John 3:16ha! This is the part of Jesus' message that our hearts and our culture try so hard to fight against. Living sacrificially for our fellow believers is against nearly everything in our nature. Yet, Jesus seemed to take this a step further! He not only taught us to love other believers, but to love our enemies. He displayed this on the cross as he prayed "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." Luke 23:34
Answer: (Anita Renfroe) Mark 14:8. This verse is in reference to the woman who broke the alabaster box over Jesus feet. Jesus defended her actions to the disciples with the response "She did what she could". Everyday we are given an opportunity to live our life and do what we can and the older I get, that's the best pronouncement I can have over my life: "I did what I could".
