The Afters originally formed as two musicians, Joshua Havens and Matt Fuqua, who worked together as baristas began playing at the local coffee shop. Their popularity spread and Joshua and Matt eventually moved on to performing at local clubs in the Dallas area. After catching the attention of a Nashville record label, the band, which also includes Jordan Mohilowski and Dan Ostebo, gained popularity with its first single "Beautiful Love." Since their formation in the late 90s, The Afters one goal: To write songs that are real, honest, and point listeners to God. “When I think about the things that have challenged my faith the most”, Havens says, “these are also the very things that have strengthened my faith most. In the midst of tragedy, I’ve experienced God’s presence.”
